| After a long night at SoWhat
I finally found my way home and went to bed
two hours before I had to get up again and
meet Truls and Stine downtown Oslo. We had
a flight to catch. We took the train to the
airport and started our little "Tori
Amos Concert" - trip to Hamburg in Germany |
|
 |
| First we had to take a flight
to Copenhagen, where we had a short wait and
then further on to Hamburg. With Stine as
our German interpreter we caught ourselves
a taxi at the airport and headed for the Radisson
SAS hotel in Hamburg where a nice (and again
thanks to Stine) hotel room was awaiting us. |
|
 |
| The concert was held in a conference
center that was connected to the hotel, so
we spent the hours before the concert shopping
a little bit, eating and then just trying
to relax at the room. |
|
 |
| A hot shower, make-up done
and one drink down we were set go. We took
the elevator down, walked through a little
bar and into the conference center/fair area.
The lounge area was filled with people who
waited excited for the doors to open. Among
those people where Püffi, who had bought
a ticket to join us. |
|
 |
| Truls, Stine and me had seats
next to eachother, but Püffi was originally
seated quite a bit away from us. Now that
solved itself when the whole row behind us
was empty through the entire concert. We placed
ourselves, got a beer and waited....And suddenly
- there she was :) |
|
 |
|
I am not joking when I say that I probably
had tears in my eyes and major goosebumps
from the first minute of the concert to
the last.

|
 |
| She started the concert with
a few tracks from the new album " Scarlet's
Walk" and I simply knew that this was
gonna be the best concert I'd ever been to. |
|
 |
| The sound in the concert hall
was really great, and we had seats almost
in the middle of the hall, up on a gallery
with a pretty good view. In front of us we
even had some Norwegians (that I later got
to know one of them is another story..but
talk about coincidence!!!). |
|
 |
| Nine songs into the concert
the musicians leave the stage and only Tori
is left with the piano. A sign - "Roadside
Cafe" - comes into view and she does
three songs in this setting. Among them "Jackie's
Strenght" which is one of my favorites
from the "choirgirl hotel" album. |
|
 |
| The band returned and the concert
continued with a parade of totally wonderful
song. Some new, some old and some simply all-time
classics that are bound to make you cry. |
|
 |
| I had Stine next to me - shaking
in her seat and holding my hand. When Tori
did "Cornflake Girl" and "Precious
Things" I was stunned. When the sound
of "I Can't See New York" along
with a lightshow that painted clouds and flames
on the ceiling filled the room, I couldn't
hold the tears back either. |
|
 |
| It was just too damn sad, beautiful
and magical. |
|
 |
| During the concert I was keeping
an eye on Truls, a bit worried that my dear
metal-junkie-friend was bored to death by
pianos and a woman in a fluttering green dress. |
|
 |
| No worries. He was at the front
of the seat staring with awe at the little
songbird in front of us. |
|
 |
| After "Iieee" the
concert was supposedly over, but we all knew
there would be more. Shortly after the band
returned and did the first encore including
"Taxi Ride" and "Tear In Your
Hand" |
|
 |
| Another break, and then the
second and last encore; A mindblowing version
of "Space Dog" and beautifully performed
"Hey Jupiter". I had to call my
bestfriend Stig so he could hear it over the
phone. That's just one of those moments you
really want to share with someone. |
|
 |
| And then it was over... We
were sitting for a while in our seats before
we slowly moved out to the lounge area...and
then finally I walked those heavy steps away
from the conference center and back to the
hotel room. Püffi had promised us a nightlife
tour in Hamburg, so we freshened up and went
for a ride..... |
