 |
| Parts of the gang went down
to RF on "Säfflebussen". It
looks like the lot is getting in the mood.
Can't remember which day this is, but I think
it's Monday before the festival starts |
|
 |
| After putting in quite an effort
to make the perfect camp (with very good help
from Thomas I've heard) Fist Camp stood ready
for many days and night of rocking and partying. |
|
 |
| Thomas climbed to the top of
the pyramid that was build on the area and
took some great shots of the Festival area
before the festival started. This is Club
Roskilde and Tech scene. To the left you can
see the entrance where the chatgang gathered
on Thursday for the chatmeeting. |
|
 |
| Tech scene and the Yellow Scene
furter back. |
|
 |
| Here you can see Orange scene.
Looks weird with no people on the field or
what? |
|
 |
| This is the view towards White
scene and Green scene way back there. To the
right in the picture you can see a pretty
crowded Camping East. |
|
 |
| The chatmeeting has started.
At first we stood over by the brigde to try
to find all the new ones and we were soon
quite a bunch so we moved over to the gras
by gate 10. |
|
 |
| We were quite a lot of people,
and the 99 - gang was soon onto old habits,
like Dark Grief singing Spanish lovesongs.
Angel looks like she wants strangle him. The
rest of us are just happygolucky. |
|
 |
| Old buddies meet again. Last
time Fredde and Darkie met was at the Madrugada
concert party back in Nov' 99. |
|
 |
| After gathering everyone on
the gras it's beer time. A couple of people
collected in money and went of to buy some
beer. So here we are after a while doing what
we like best - chatting and drinking beer.
Cheers ZapArt!!! |
|
 |
| Personal Jesus is making new
aquaintances (I can let you in on the fact
that these two chatters now are living together).
And he is as charming as ever. |
|
 |
| The weather was just perfect
for the chatmeeting, sunny and warm. This
is Harvest! He just had the most amazing language
skills I've ever heard. The education in Switzerland
must be good. |
|
 |
| Everyone is busy talking to
old friends and new friends, and the gates
will soon open so the area is filling up with
people eager to get in and start the festival. |
|
 |
| This is from Friday. We are
on our second concert of the day - Kent. Earlier
I saw Morten Abel and the guys saw Sahara
Hotnights. It was really good and it was a
brilliant start of what we thought would be
the best concert night ever. Later on we were
gonna see Pearl Jam and The Cure |
|
 |
| The partymood is at it's best
and we are ready to rock on all night long. |
|
 |
| The Pearl Jam concert has just
started and as the darkness falls and the
great music of one of my favorite bands fills
the air we are all thinking that this is the
time of our lives. After only 5 songs, "Daughter"
being the last, the sound is cut and the time
of 8 lives are over. Later the 9th life expires
in a hospital. Rest in peace guys. |
|
 |
| And this is the sad sight that
meets us the day after. Police tape and photographers
from newspapers, policedepartment etc. Coming
back here to see a concert seems like a very
distant thought. |
|
 |
| A lot of the concerts on the
festival was cancelled and we didn't much
feel like going either, so we spent the time
in fistcamp. Here we could talk, cry, sing
and take care of eachother. Some of us were
in better shape than others, but just to be
with friends what was we all wanted. |
|
 |
|
 |
| Some crazy Danes that come
to the festival every year and that always
have an outstanding camp. This year it's an
absolute brilliant replica of the Orange scene.
They are even playing music from the speakers
on the poles. |
|
 |
| We are hanging out in Fistcamp,
and Fredde is showing us what a real Fister
is all about. |
|
 |
| Lots of people came to our
camp. Some of them just strolled in because
they heard the music, so the musicians changed
quite often. People brought their guitars
or drums or just their voices and from that
came an eternal concert going on all day and
night. |
|
 |
| The morning has broken and
people are still about their drinking and
talking and singing in the Fistcamp. This
is around 7 or 8 in the morning and Benny
and I finally go back to our camp which is
(or feels like) miles away from the Fistcamp.
It actually was a 30 minute walk or something. |
|
 |
| After listening to all the
singing outside the tent, Thomas couldn't
sleep anymore and got up. The guy to the left
is a young Dane who were playing guitar and
rapping in Danish. We had left by then, but
everyone says it's the coolest thing they've
ever heard. And I think this picture really
captures what the Roskilde festival is. Right
on Thomas! |
|
 |
| Some more young Danes. We met
these guys on our way home to the camp. The
guy to the left is maked-up like a cat. So
we called him catboy. And when we asked if
we could take a picture of them in their cool
saggerpants....catboy just as well pulled
his pants all the way down! |
|
 |
| This is the Henry Rollins concert
at orange stage. Later we also saw D:A:D.
But we didn't stay for long. Benny and me
took a stroll to the pyramid and later on
to the backstage where we saw the crowd at
Orange from the tower. All those lighters
and everyone singing "It's after midnight
and Disneyland is closed...." Still makes
my eyes water. |
|
 |
| The pyramid of painted doors.
It was really cool and in the late evening
sun it stood out beautifully to the darkening
sky. So many doors, so many cool paintings.
I never went up in it thought - bummer. |
|
 |
| Fires in the night. I was not
feeling very comfortable with all the fires
that were burning around the camping area
the last night. Lots of tents were trashed
and burned, and I hardly slept a minute in
fear of someone setting our tent on fire.
I honestly wish they would stop this tradition. |
