Roskilde Backstage 2003
Like every year at Roskilde I had a backstage pass for RF03, but this year the difference was that I was actually working for the festival.
As an editor for the forum I didn't have to work while being at the festival, but I got to see where the web team worked and send them a message if something special was happening. After the festival I unfortunately had to end my work for the festival due to lack of spare time to do it. But it was the best solution for both the festival and me.
Like the rest of the festival, some things at the backstage are constant.
One of those things are "Strandbaren". It's a bar that moves around a bit, changes name and changes theme from year to year, but the people who work there are the same, and so is the food. This is where I buy my "Lune Italienske Boller" - Italian Buns. Yummy!
But there are also newcomers. This is the sharkhouse. It's a rather new restaurant/bar (new in 2002) who took over for "Pussy's Galore". The food at sharkhouse is mostly centered around the creatures of the sea...
Being backstage also means that you can take shortcuts from one stage to the other (green to orange is the best one...) when you run like hell between concerts. And on the way you might spot interesting things like tourbuses...or even an artist if you're very lucky.
My newfound favorite is the "W & C Restaurant and Bar". Magnus and I had breakfast there in 2002, and I also had a delicious veal dinner there then. This year I stuck to the breakfast.
Eating breakfast alone in the tranquility of this place is very nice indeed, but some good company is also a good thing.
Last year you had to order a breakfast plate and drinks separate, this year they had a buffèt which made it all much cheaper and easier. I mean, one glass of orangejuice cost 35 DKK last year...now it was included in the meal...and I had 3 glasses each time :)
If I didn't have access to this area I would probably go crazy during the festival. This is my place of peace and quiet...
A place to rest the mind
The body...
A true sanctuary
After resting one's mind and soul in the green woods of W & C it's time to mingle a bit again. Look at these strange people I found sitting in a car in the media village...
