Benno joined us at the chatmeeting for the first time in 2005 after chatting with us on the our webchat (Now that the official Roskilde Festival chat is down we're using a webchat that our dear Germans are running smoothly). He was quite active on the unofficial irc chat a few months before Roskilde '05. Mostly chatting with Honx, TauPau, Stevomatic and KoreaKeld. This year he's mostly monitoring the channel, participating only a few times per week.

Benno was born and raised in the south-west part of the Nether-lands (in de province Zeeland) and still live and work there. Benno works as a network administrator at a local, international operating, construction company. And has also worked as a part-time sound engineer while at school but strangely enough only became interested in rock/alt. rock in his early 20 (He remembers the first Rage against the Machine album to be the turning point). Started going to the bigger festivals only about 5 years ago. Roskilde Festival came into the picture after a summer holiday in France when he and some friends met some Danish girls. Although they had never been to Roskilde themselves they where quite charmed by their 'style' and stories about life in Denmark (and their Saybia tape) and decided to check out Roskilde Festival the next year.

Best Roskilde Festival memory:

Our first night at the Roskilde warm-up in '03. When we eventually arrived at Tuesday night after a two day delay, a long drive and allowing ourselves to get ripped off by one of the luggage carriers we somehow managed to find a perfect spot just over the bridge in front of entrance 10. (Although we only had room for one 2 persons iglo tent, to be shared by three grown men). We managed to take at least three hours to finally pitch this tent, drinking and handing out most of our beer supply to helpful bypassers. We went on partying at our little camp and many other camps throughout the night until the next morning. That night we made friends for life that we would never see again and the tone was set for future Roskilde festivals to come. The Metallica concert in 2003 was my first big name concert at the Orange stage and it seemed like everyone who was at Roskide festival was at that concert. I never forget standing in the middle of the enormous crowd, surrounded by tens of thousands of people rocking out.
